What is the rules with insurance companies and drag racing? I went to the drag strip and when I got back my parents were pissed. They said that the insurance won't cover stuff like that if I get in an accident.
Is there insurance for dragsters?
Somehow I doubt there is but I figured I would ask.

My friend hit the wall at a strip, and got his car towed home. Somehow the insurence company found out that he was driving in a "racing event" so they wouldent cover it.
There probaly is insurance for dragsters.... but i bet it would be reallllllly expencive.

Thats why they ask you, will this vehicle be used in any racing events...
Stuff like racing insurance usually is not available because it would need be so expensive for the companies to pull a profit.
Say the average was one totaled car per 3 years per driver, Essentially you would have to pay for *more* than the car every 3 years because you are guaranteed to wreck - meaning your insurance payment would be more than your car payment.
My dad is an insurance agent and he said if the company or underwriters found out you were racing your vehicle they would most likely cancel you unless you have a special kind of insurance which is alot more than you would want to pay!

You mean even if I was racing and didn't crash or anything they could cancel my insurance? That sucks.
thats why i only race on the street! "i swear officer i was going the speed limit, listening to my gospel music when a little helpless retarded baby deer walked infront of me and BAM! just dont pay attention to my exhaust, headers, intake and bottle of nitrous in my trunk"
Yes, if they found out you go to the strip, they could cancel you. You become too much of a variable for them, and they don't want to actually have to give you the benefits you pay for.

Ya, cause we all know we pay insurance so we can race at the striplease: ...that has to be the stupidist comment I've heard "they don't want to give you the benefits you paid for".... If they new you were racing your car, do you honestly think you'd be paying as much as you do???
Well, if your car has problems on the track, get some friends to push it out of the track and push it into a ditch on the side of the road out front. Then you didn't crash it on the track.
I don't think you're covered, but seriously, do you think all the Corvette, M3, 911, Ferrari, Z, S2000, Supra and all those other sports car drivers report they race the cars.... no. No one is that dumb, but if you're going to sell a car with that kind of power and have a "Track" Package, or something else to that effect, you can be damn sure those cars are getting raced. I think the waiver you sign says something about acknowledging that there's no coverage on the track, well, some of them say that. All you have to do is not report it to insurance... pull the money out of your pocket if you do race it and have problems.
