Two rotary engines for the RX-8 are listed in information binders initially released by Mazda in Japan. The top engine is a twin rotor unit developing 247 horsepower at 8,500 rpm. The rev limit is an impressive 9,000, so those rotors really hum under full power
And if you ever tire of just driving your RX-8 and listening to the hum of the rotors, the car comes with a Bose sound system of amazingly high quality. Regardless of your musical tastes, sound quality is just about as good as it gets and it would take another feature to describe exactly how Bose achieved this. Let's just say it's state-of-the-art in sports car music reproduction. Mazda worked with Bose right from the design stage to bring RX-8 buyers the best possible stereo system.
Is it confirmed that they are making a model of the RX-8 that is high-powered? I know this RX-8 is geared for people who want a sporty car but also have it be really functional.

yes, its confirmed, it is going to be lighter and have better suspension. It will be NA as well, but have a larger rotor with a higher compression combustion area, along with a more free-flowing header to get the 300 hp mark. It seems like mazda "detuned" the RX-8 from the factory with an inefficiant header and restrictive exhaust. Mazda has had a history of doing this to their cars so that they will be allowed for sale in America, while makeing it really easy and cheap to add on the ponies.
also-depending on the popularity of the rx-8, they will bring back the rx-7 in 2006. Mazda said they are quote "Heavly working on the concept" which will be based on the Renesis platform, be signifigantly lighter, and be a 2 seater

That's great and all but as far as the stereo goes....yank it. No matter what it is, if it's factory...it's factory. Some are nicer than others and i've heard many bose setups but they can never compare to top-line aftermarket stuff. Just my .02 cents
thats great that its able to produce so much power NA because if i remember correctly some of the RX-7s had trouble and overheated quite a bit becuase of the turbos, wonder how itll function once the turbo systems come out
well, a turbo rotary engine dosnt run "hotter" than a pison engine with a turbo setup, but if you start to get predetonation, rather than getting knocking and pinging your apex seals blow and the engine grinds itself apart. thats why were not seeing a turbo on the renisis yet. its probally just a warentee issue. I bet GM just didnt want to have to shell out lots of money to replace rotors everytimes someone put in regular gas istead of premium.
