Before ravenous wolves come and tear you apart for not searching, I'll answer

The cutoff hits around 120 mph. You're not going to hit that 140 on the spedometer.

Some have claimed to go 150 on their Civic ..... but heheheh, I highly doubt it, not with the mods we have to work with.

You have to explain this to me...Civics are not rated to go that high, the governor definitely kicks in before that...like way before that...

The reason why I don't believe you is that even with your mods you can't hit 150, unless you went down a steep sky-jump hill. If your transmission and gear ratio's remain the same, it doesn't matter how much HP is in your engine, the cut-off will kick in.

ive got a lx sedan and ive hit 135, 3 times and had it at 137 once but i think that was becuase my rims were offsetting it a bit. the first two times nobody believed me so i did it again with a friend in the car so i had proof. i think if i took the govenor off it would have gone past 140 becuase my rpms were only at 6.5 when doing 135.

I hit 122 with my car, Lx stock. There was no govenor tho, I slowed down because my radar detector went off. Lo and behold 1.5 miles down the road was a cop with his radar on. WHEW!!!

Here's my question for all of you......

Why do you believe what your speedometer is reading? Several tests have confirmed that speedometers are not dead-on acurate, especially as speed increases. One test I read a while back had a speedometer reading almost 20 MPH MORE than the car was travelling. So, I believe no one, unless you either have calibrated your speedometer, or have another source. (Radar / laser gun, for example)

Just my $.02

Is that so??? Why then does mine go *AT LEAST* 185km/h ? (i.e., I haven't pushed mine to the max yet but I got it going about 185 on flat road) FYI I have an 02 Si Veloz

To whoever thinks that civic's cut out at 183 km/h or whatever, you dont know what your saying. I had mine at 208 km/h and still had plenty of rpm's to go (reving at around 6000 rpm's), thats when the vr-6 i was racing passed me, so I let off. FACT. 5 speed si.

Yeah he said 183 and you said 185, big difference 2 km/h is so negliable that it doesnt disprove the governer being at 183. If you said like 190 km/h that would be different, but come on...

trust me, i have had my taste in speed, and no i am not talking about civics. but let me ask you this question.....why do you feel the need to get it up there that fast? a dip in the road will toss our little cars like nothing. your going to kill someone or your self with that nonse.
