i made a fool of myself today driving home from school. it was a long day and my 10am-12pm ENGLISH 1A ended at about 12:15 so i was ready to leave. i was approaching a stop sign before pulling out of the parking lot, so i just slowly crept up to it. there was another car coming toward me on the other side but their road ends and are forced to make a left turn into the parking lot. so as i was inching forward i glanced out my driver window and saw a classmate of mine. i wasnt paying attention and started to press on the accelerator. well i looked back to the front and i noticed that the oncoming car was just in the middle of his turn when he is already supposed to be finished turning. so we both jam on our brakes and look at each other. he takes off with a mug on his face and i just stare back. as soon as he was out of my way i floored it to get out of there ASAP cause i knew that most of it was my fault. i drive with my right hand on the shifter (AT) and somehow when i jammed on the brakes my hand along with me lunged forward and shifted the car into neutral. as i said earlier i floored it as i wanted to leave, but instead i sat there with the car revving. what makes it worse is that you can clearly hear the rev limiter cutting me off like 3-4 times. i was soooo at the time that it took me that long to figure out why i wasnt moving. so i dropped it back into D and peeled out in the loose dirt/sandy road and turned the corner onto the main street and never looked back.
loss of my cool points:
1. almost caused an accident
2. looked like an idiot in front of my classmates
3. sat there revving accidentally; made me look as if i didnt know how to drive
4. accidentally NEUTRAL DROPPED MY CAR while trying to flee!!
all in all...: _doh:

I did something once
While I was at school it was snowing very heavily and the wind was just rocking my lil civic
Anyways I put my key in the ignition but I was wayy too cold to think so I just sat there shifted into D without turning the ignition and I stomped on the gas a couple times and I was like WTF then I realized the car is not even on

Well Mine wasn't as bad as yours but it made me feel like a dumbass
sometimes i shift into d3 for better acceleration. but its not like i drop it in neutral and stuff when coming to a stop. just becuase u drive a auto doesn't mean u have to drive like a granny.

what's so bad with ur right hand on the shifter in and automatic??? where else are you supposed to have hand?[hr]
you are supposed to have BOTH HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL, i do that and i have a standard car. i take my right hand off the wheel for a slight moment to shift.
too many people drive laid back trying to look "ghetto fast" with their left hands on the top of the wheel (12 o'clock) and their right hand on the shifter. this is incorrect, did you do this when you took your road test? no i doubt it, you would have been failed on takeoff.
your hands are supposed to sit on 10 and 2 o'clock on the wheel...many accidents would be avoided if morons drove the correct way. 2 hands control a steering wheel much better than one hand.
different people have different preferences of handling the steering wheel...you like using both hands good for you...some people aren't use to it and drive even worst with both hands...i got used to using only my left hand to drive cuz i use to drive a manaul but now i own a automatic and still just can't change my way of driving which is using both hands...
