mpg

i've been really dissapointed with the mpg on my car as of late. i got the 01 civic ex sedan auto. normally when i go to college, i travel mostly freeway and i get an avg of 33 mpg. i used arco regular gas. now im back in the city of san francisco. yes there is a lot of stop and go traffic, but i still use it mostly on the freeway. but now i get only 24 mpg. and now i use "better" gas cheveron, 76, or shell. i just got my oil change 1.5k mi ago only. i just didn't expect the gas mileage to drop that low. i drive my car really smoothly as well and i dont race it either. is anyone else experiencing this problem? I get between 36-40 mpg. I drive a 2001 ex auto with intake and exhaust.

I've been averaging between 34 - 38 mpg on my '02 5-speed. However, when I first got the car I was only averaging 28 - 32, it was unexpected.

Maybe it's also due to the steep hills in SF. My Civic seems to eat gas when going uphill.

I live in Berkeley/Oakland, and my mpg is nothing special, probably like 28-30.

I came up from LA to Berkeley last week, and only got like 28 mpg (freeway whole time). That's really disappointing... if my car's an econocar and not a sports car, can it at least be fuel efficient? Then again I was averaging 90-95mph, probably burns a lot less efficiently.

But on average, 30 mpg.
