Rep Power: 0 civic vs. corolla
OK, I am not expecting very objective comments, since we are all civic owners, but I was wondering if someone has driven the new corolla, and how does it compare to our civics?
Which car (in stock shape) would be faster?
I have to admit the looks of the new corolla are far better than the boring previous one.

Rep Power: 0 I was looking at the Corolla before I bought my Civic. Though it was cheaper than Honda, I still went with Honda because of trust. The Corolla has some nice features though. Mainly it's got their 130HP VVT-i (their version of VTEC) engine in all trim levels. I would have to agree that it looks a lot better than older versions.

Rep Power: 0 It really depends.....
Yes, the new corolla looks nicer, but it's still a corolla, which reminds me a learner and a car for women between 30-50yrs old...
but a corolla will probably beat a civic, compart civics EX vs Corolla LE, the Corolla has a bigger engine, and it is DOHC, unlike us, which is SHOC.............correct me if i'm wrong.....
corolla has 3 morehp, and 11lb more Tq then a civic
and a corolla is lighter then a civic by 29lb

Rep Power: 0 haha, new corolla is nice, but its more expensive than a civic, and yes they have 130hps and more torque, but their wheel hps is not as good, their 0-60 time actually slower than the Si(Ex), but i love that steering wheel, haha

Rep Power: 0 I think the Civic 4-door wins on looks over even the Corolla-S (the wheels looks kinda tiny and it sits too high). As far as the difference in HP, Torgue & weight... it's so slight that I agree - it would come down to driver skill in a race.

Rep Power: 0 I haven't drive a Corolla yet, but this dude on my block just got a brand new Type-S, black, body kit. that hing is sweet- has anyone seen the gauge cluster? It's really phat. If I wanted a 4-door, I'd take a Corolla over a 4-door Civic in a second.

Rep Power: 0 if i were 40 i would pick the corolla, otherwise i would pick the civic, but if it were my choice, i would get a coupe , even though i have a sedan now, trying to make it as nice as possible...

Rep Power: 0 i had a rental corolla for the past few weeks, its so much better than the civics in almost everyway. I even had the op to race an si veloz up weston rd. and the corolla won <corolla was auto, the guy was stick> and I'm not saying he was a bad driver, it was a pretty definite win, pulled away clean throughout its powerband! The only foot up the civic has is its exterior styling....the corolla is too high

Rep Power: 0 I know i'm bias.. as a civic owner.. but i think the corolla looks a lot like an ECHO with some modifications.. which turns me off it..
I'm sure in a couple of years it'll look pretty sweet... and i'm yet to see a slammed Corolla.. which will probably add a LOT to the looks of it.. we'll see..
But as of now.. the civic is my choice..

Rep Power: 0 I think the corolla looks ok in s form but otherwise, I don't like it. It sits way too high. I am not talking about the ride height but the top of the roof. I can't stand toyotas instrument clusters to say the least. It seems smaller on the inside and lacks any driver connection if you ask me. I think it is quieter, more bland, and meant for older woman more or less.
I seriously doubt that any corolla is going to leave a civic ex any shape or form. It would be a pure driver's race.

Rep Power: 0 I think that in terms of looks the Corolla looks comparable to the Civic. Hell, it even looks like it was modelled after the Civic (sedan). In terms of price it seems to be a little cheaper and has more standard options, stronger engine, DOHC, etc. Very tempting, especially the Corolla-S. Now what I've heard is that the new Corolla has a beam type suspension in the rear quarters(??). Hence, does not have 4 wheel independent suspension. Haven't seen it for myself yet so I'm not sure if this is true (someone help me out here). If it is, the Civic is a clear winner. But I'd still probably get a Civic anywaz cause of all the aftermarket products for it.

Rep Power: 0 Civic Mexicano, I´m from Mexico City, but fell in love with Civics in the US when I lived there for 2 years. If you are from Mexico too, I think the Civic in the US has the "aura" that the Golf GTI used to have in Mexico, and lost it with the years.
One of the best thing the Civic has earned over the years is a young spirit (its one of those cars you always picture been driven by young people, or young at heart). As for the Corolla, as well as the Camry, I picture both those cars been driven by older people, specially ladies.
I was just wondering how the Corolla would compare to the Civic because Toyota just started selling cars in Mexico and the corolla will be introduced pretty soon.
By the way, what do you think is better, Civics or Jettas?

I like the civic a lot more, the jettas are a little to suttle , besides there a lot of thing you can't fo to a jetta, and if you compare the two cars with similar equipment the jjeta hi to expenssive.............
