Question for QCKSILVER

Ok man, well, I know you read my post about rear ending someone, well, people have been telling me different things, that i will lose my license for a month, and others say for 3 months. Well my question, I am thinking that these kids that have gone through it got a failure to control vehicle, and I just got assured clear distance. Now are these two in two completely different catagories? Or am I probably gonna lose the license for 3 months like they say? I know you don't know Ohio law, but if you could clear this up for me a bit, and can you get a failure to control your vehicle along with assured clear distance? cause my friend that lost his for 3 months that rear ended someone slid on the ice into some other guy, and he said that he got assured clear distance, but his g/f said that he also got failure to control vehicle. If you could clear everything up for me that would be awesome To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

I have no idea what the words "assured clear distance" mean. . Failure to control vehicle I would guess is in line with New York State's reckless driving, which will put a real dent in your license. Reckless driving in New York State is a crime, a misdemeanor, and therefore carries a substanital fine and points. I would guess based upon the information that you provided that an "assured clear distance" would be equivalent to New York State's "following too closely." Following too closely is also serious, but it is not a crime, it is a violation.

As far as losing your license, it would depend upon past history and/or point accumulation if your state does that. In New York, someone who accrues 11 or more points within an 18 month period is summoned to a DMV hearing. Reckless is a 5 point violation, whereas following too closely is a 4 point violation (I believe). If a person has no prior history, they *probably* will not lose their license unless the offense is alcohol/drug related, or refusing to submit to a breath test.

Well, i will, cause i am a minor, lol, the judge here likes to take juviniles licenses. soo, with the ACDA violation, that is just along the lines of speeding and will prolly be like the 4 week suspension? i dunno, but 3 months is the whole summer but my record is clean

I'm not sure if the minor thing would matter. Any driver in my state is on probation in the first six months of being licensed.
