So, it's a suspected self sabotage by GM due to insufficient profits. Wow, what a shame it is what it is, presently. I suspect it's going to take generations to adopt a new mindset.

That's awesome to see cars moving into the future. But this is honda forum, they'll have a 400mpg car you'll see. Japanese car scientist are way smarter. Can't wait till the day we'll be driving 300mpg though. Fill up like every other two months lol.

the EV cars can live their whole life without using any gas if well used. (such as the GM volt with a small petrol engine)
The problem is that it does not account for the miles per ton of coal when you plug it to recharge on the electric grid...

I do believe that data is there, just haven't bother digging for it. With electricity also being developed (hydro, solar, etc), I'm sure the pros and cons are in favor of EV when compared to fossil fuels.

there has to be a certain type of metal under the hoverboard for that to work so that's out of the question for now. what about steam or compressed air powered cars the the TaTa ???

I also agree with sdaidoji...when you look beyond the electrical outlet the actual electricity comes from far less environmentally friendly sources than people realize in a lot of cases.

yeah but those super cars are using electric motors to gain performance not really for economic or environmental reasons. also with fuel cells you can also run your entire house with your car they make so much power you can supply electricity to your whole block. but your rite we need a more viable means of making hydrogen as of rite now most of it comes from natural gas which comes from fracking. making hydrogen is still in its infancy but new methods will evolve.

wow, so 795 kilograms = 1752.67 pounds. that's very lightweight! imagine if our civics were that light...sadly, this new VW stock is about as fast as a stock civic lol 0-60mph: 11.9 seconds for the VW. at least it only goes 99mph
i HATE how the rear wheel cover/front bumber/headlights looks but everything else is really cool. oh ya the wheels look super weird too

their energy recovery using the turbo itself is neat. And it can be used to spool the turbo to minimize the turbo lag, so it's quite interesting.

i wonder about that. the current F1 cars uses two thirds (?) of the fuel used in a race by previous models, but they are starting to reach same race times in this first year using the new power units, so it's not only about power, but about fuel efficiency.

doesn't change the fact they are starting to get similar performance with less fuel, which is great for the engine technology
