Rep Power: 160 Possible Second Civic
I've been looking to pick up another civic - specifically a hatch - for $3k-$4k, and I think I've found the one. It's basically everything I wanna do, except it isn't turbo'd yet. I get paid Friday, so I'm hoping to get it before Christmas. He was asking $3500, said I could have it for $3200.
92 EG:
80k on the body
new paint
no rust
b18b1 block
- oem rebuild
- crank pulley
b18c1 head
- fully built
- skunk2 tb
p71 tunned on chrome
srt4 fuel pump
aem fuel regulator
11lb fly wheel
What needs done asap:
Exhaust leak fixed. Depending on the diameter of the pipe, I might just get it welded. If it's not what I want I'll just have all new welded up.
What should be done asap:
Lowered on cut springs and stock struts/shocks. So they're prolly blown or close to it. So, I'm thinking Tokico blues with sportlines for ~$400, blues with tokico springs for ~$335, skunk2 pro s ii coilovers for ~$520, or tein street basis for $560.

I love the '92 Civic HB. Been looking for a good one for awhile now.
Just one tip for you on that one. New paint usually means rusty car and if you need to replace a fender or hood or something your colours won't match.

He said there never has been any body work. I'm giving it a real good look over when I go to see it(and possibly buy). I think I'm taking my bud with me. I've got a good idea what to look for, but he has an even better one.

Re: Possible Second Civic
yeah, just my opinion, not to be taken as fact or anything.
common places I've seen rust on those ones are back of the rear fender well and around the gas tank. For some reason I've seen alot that age with messed up paint on the hood and roof. I've also seen the front of the hood rusted out from 'winter'....but you won't be able to see that with new paint on.
I looked at a 93 del sol last summer (not seriously, but i looked) and it was painted a black cherry kind of colour. Walking up to it looked good but when I really started critically looking at it there was quite a bit of rust. I'd say the paint was 2 or 3 years old and it was starting to bubble up under the gas cap. General rule of thumb is for any visible rust you can see there's actually 3x that much. Probably good to take a good look at the front sub frame....that's probably the rustiest part of my car.

Remember the guy on here that bought a car with "internal upgrades" and it turned out to be completely stock...something to think about

^yeah, what's not visible is hard to inspect, unfortunately... If the guy have the receipts it would help, tho.
I myself tried to get an early vic too, but most were scams in craiglist, or too beaten, or were autos, or a very bad setup (I was looking for a reliable one to drive until i fixed the other 2 cars, so it was a must...) so i ended up getting my 2nd miata in the end. working on the 1st miata now and the vic is waiting for the new knuckles to come in tomorrow :P
g'luck!
