My parents and I were going over the prices for a 2002 Civic Ex Coupe manual and the dealer showed us the invoice paper for like 16500 or some sh*t. Well I go and look online and find that the invoice should be around 15500. This son of a bitch lied to me and now I have to get some other quotes and hopefully he will match b/c I really don't feel like getting my car re-estimated, plus their isnt another honda dealer for like 45 minutes away. I was supposed to get my car this weekend, but looks like it will be another week or 2.

Dealers are in business to do one thing, and that is to make a profit. An uninformed consumer will be taken for a ride if he/she does not know his/her products before going into a store, regardless of whether or not it is a car.
manual tranny doesn't account for 1000 from the factory...if they took an auto from the factory and made bought a manual transmission and dropped that in there.....i could see that
If you pay MSRP, god help you. And mine was 16,900 so quit your bichin. Your lucky. Also, if your looking for GOOD price quotes, your not going to find them online, they are all different.
my dealer was pretty sweet....no pressuring or feeding me a bunch of BS...i got my lx coupe for 14k even...and they put in a cd player, spoiler, mudflaps.....from the ex, i just dont have the moon roof or side SRS or alram...but i got a viper 600 so its hella better......guess some dealers got their sh!t more straight than others...sorry to hear some of you guys get screwed over....later
When to go to buy a car you just have to have your facts straight. You have to know how much the dealer paid for the car. Once you know that then you can start your hagling. And you can't be afraid to walk away. Sit and talk to them for over an hour about the car and hagle the price for a while. Give them your final offer and if they don't take it then leave. Just make sure they have your name and number first. After a couple days the salesman will want some commission and want to get paid. Plus you gotta know when to buy a car. If you see the same cars on the lot for a while then that tells you they are hurting for a sale.
I waited a while before I bought my car, I gave the dealer my offer and after a couple days he called me up and said he worked somethign out. I paid 3k over dealer invoice.
There's this one dealer that has bottom line pricing, but they suck as well. Check out www.lundgrenhonda.com and laugh your ass off at the prices. BTW, I bought my LX under invoice (invoice on www.edmunds.com) for $13,695 out the door with OEM floor mats. Some people made out even better than that though, so I'm not 100% happy. Oh well...
I could've brought my car in from vancouver (6 hrs away) for a few hundred less than what the dealer was offering... but I really liked the dealer I had he was very honest and straight up with me... and didn't down other vehicles to sell me a civic... Also they were building a brand new facility which is now completed and they've moved in... its REALLY spiffy and shiny... and their service is great.
