looking to do a motor swap in a 95 hatch.

alright after lots of researching i think i want to start a project on my hatch its a dx 1.5l. i would like to do the b16a2/a3 swap as it seems like enough power good aftermarket and almost a direct drop in i am wondering how long of a swap this would be i have never done an engine swap i have help do trannys and am pretty nifty around cars. i will also have friends to help. i understand i will need the following items for a complete swap.
Engine
Tranny
Mounts and mount brackets
Axles
Intermediate shaft
Throttle cable
ECU
Shift linkage
Exhaust manifold
just wondering if anyone thinks this is a good idea or if there is better swaps out there i am mainly looking for something easy cause i will be learning as i go thanks

Re: looking to do a motor swap in a 95 hatch.

First off whats your budget? What you are wainting to do is fine. Realy easy and with the right hand tools and just a little bit of skill you could have it done in a day/day 1/2. You picked a good chassie to start with obd1 and pretty much whatever you wanted to put in it you could. If it were me doing it, i sure wouldnt jump on the band wagon of the K. Yes it maks good power and yes it be the cool thing to do. But you also got to have the money to do the swap ie; about 8k to do it right. I would go the way of an h22a. Done this swap so many time i could do it in my sleep. Could be done for less then half the price of the K. With some head work and cams will make more power then the K. Im sure ill hear it from the ones on the bandwagon, but do your research first.
With 3500.00 i can do a H swap cams and head work put down 230whp tuned on chrome. Try to do that with a K, not going to happen.
Anyway thats my .02. But it really comes down on how much money you want to spend.

Re: looking to do a motor swap in a 95 hatch.

ya i read that a K swap done the right way would run between 7k-10k. i am mainly looking for something that would make decent power. but mainly that would be an easy swap as i am starting this project to learn more about cars. i also looked at the h22a swap but wasnt sure how difficult it would be. and i think the 160hp from the b16a would be plenty enough for such a small car lol i dont want to do 0-60 in 5 seconds. i dont want to bite off more than i can chew. i would be looking to spend around 3k for a swap.

Everything sounds great. Yea just stick with the budget and your know how and thing will fall in to place. Good luck with your swap. If you have any ? just ask.
