VTi vs Ex- whats the difference?

Hello everyone,

this my first post here. the subject of the post should be self explainatory...what difference is there b/w VTi and EX? Is it only the designation? We guys around here get VTi and EXi model trims for the Civic. VTi comes with 4 wheel discs and ABS as std. Plus it has 15' rims..I heard EX doesnt get 4 wheel disc?

my second question.

i went to my local dealership a few days back, and I was discussing the gap b/w fender well and the tires of the car and he told me he put 18' rims on the new VTi he had and he said they fit just fine. I asked him about the ride quality and how it performed on the bumps and he said there was hardly any difference. He also said the tires didnt rub against car's body..I must say i am very skeptikal about this. He didnt put on low profile tyres so he might be right..what do yu guys say? Does anyone here have 18' on his Civic? I am looking for pics without any alteration to the suspension..

Alot of people here have 18's on there car. I have 18s on my car and its lowered. There is no rubbing, thats why you get a camber kit. Ride quality is the same for me b/c i got koni yellow adjustable shocks and coil overs but there a bit louder than my stock tires.

Hey thx for your reply. It was most helpful. I have a few questions.

1. Can you post pics of your car pls?

2. Did you get the adjustable shocks first or 18'? I am asking this cuz I wanna ask you how the car performed with stock shocks..that is if you bought 18's first and put them on b4 you bought the adjustable shocks.

3. How noisy is the car now? For ease of illustrations, lets assume the car in its stock form got a perfect 10 for sound levels, how much woud you award it now?

In the US, Honda use the variants, EX, LX, DX etc.....

In the Asia, particularly RP, Honda use, VTi-S, VTi and LXi.

What VTi stands for? Not so sure....could be Variable Timing - injected (Fuel). He he he........

VTi-S is the top variant, it having safety features like ABS and SRS, 1.6 16 valve VTEC 3 engine, power side mirrors, 15" OEM magswheels, Kenwood MP3 HU, Automatic transmission Only.

VTi is the middle variant, NO ABS and SRS, 1.6 16 Valve VTEC 3 engine, power side mirrors, 15" OEM Magwheels, Clarion in-dash CD HU, comes with Automatic and Manual Transmission.

LXi is the low variant, NO ABS and SRS, 1.5 Honda Engine (non-VTEC), manual side mirrors, 14" OEM magwheels, comes with auto and manual tranny. Some exterior components are painted flat blacj instead of body color.

What ever their US variant equivalent, I have no idea.

You dude!

Glad to meet a fellow pinoy here. So your from Pilar Village, not too far fetch from my place.

About the VTi-S emblem, well.......its kinda hard to look for one since Honda has not released that emblem via retail market. In some occassion, after market shops like Camspeed in Alabang had them imported from other ASEAN countries. The price could be a little expensive. I'll let you know as soon as I get news about the emblem.....or........if ever......i get to know one who removed his/her VTi-S emblems, baka pwede na natin ma-arbor yun.

So you swaped your amber headlights with crystal clear OEM headlights huh. Hmmm.....the swap sounds familiar? Is it thru Chad Trocio?

I seldom go to Total Gas Station, plenty of DRAG racers there now, specially every saturday nights.

I am not affiliated with any team but I am a member of the Official Honda CLub here.

Ingat ka nalang dyan pare..........

Yah, Chad swapped your headlight with that of Manny. I knew about the swap since Chad offered it to me too but I declined sorry. Btw, Chad and Manny are my fellow Honda Club members.

Ingat ka rin pre. I still haven't been to Camspeed to inquire about the VTi-S emblem you asked. But I do know some people from Honda Cars Shaw who may be able to help us. They have wrecked 2k1 Civics there and maybe we can find a VTi-S emblem there. I'll email it to you soon, hopefully before your mom leaves.

BTW, cool of you to set up your civic to RP Version. Ayos!
