First Cadillac CTS-V performance test published

The CTS-V ran the quarter-mile in a scant 12.5 seconds, besting the 12.7 it takes for either the BMW M5 or the Mercedes E63 AMG. Getting back to a standstill was another hit to the Bimmer and the Benz, with the Caddy stopping from 60-0 mph in 109 feet – five feet less than it takes the M5 and six shorter than the AMG. And if you're thinking that brakes and power are easy to upgrade and that the Cadillac couldn't possibly best the Germans on the handling course, think again: the CTS-V ran the slalom at 71.1 mph, while the M5 and E63 ran it in 68.5 and 65 mph respectively.

Re: First Cadillac CTS-V performance test published

I drove a catty cts... is really pissed me off. My buddy was detailing it, and asked the owner if we could test drive it, and he was happy to let us. my friend complained the entire way about how crappy it was. I told him to stop complaining, and we had dinner... when we came out he let me drive it.... and man, he was right. That car is absolutely no fun- the steering sucks with no feel, the suspension is pretty nice, if your 80, but your visibility is crap as well. The interior is cheap and so is the exterior- way too much rear bumper fliex when you push on it. In a minor fender mender that car could look wose then ours, with a repair bill twice as much.

Granted this is the cts-V version..... which I havent personally been in of course, and have no desire to be. I doubt they could make as many improvements as would be needed to satisfy an avid sport enthusiast driver. This is just another car for the old people... with a little more power to pull their old friends and a few more golf bags up the hill without the sluggish drag and needy downshift.

I drove a CTS-V around a track back in 06 and I loved it. My brother was in a C6 vette but the instructors wouldnt let us get close enough to race. that thing was fast!

I would take even the most basic CTS ove a damn civic any day of the week. At least the proper two wheels power the car.
