More specifically, let's talk about me getting a 5-speed Fit Sport. This would be in addition to my current car which is German, RWD, mediocre on gas, and prone to having things go wrong. And when things go wrong, you discover why "German engineering" is just another way of saying, "those schnitzel-eating bastards put things in stupid places." But that's beside the point.
Back to the fit. I test drove one last week. It was fairly boring but I didn't expect anything different from a FWD 109hp car. I want something that will be awesome on gas, have low insurance, be easy to fix, etc. Essentially, I want an entry-level Honda. In case anybody suggests it, I have no interest in getting another Civic.
Is there anything I should know about these cars? Any recalls? Any must-have options or aftermarket parts?
Is there a decent clutch replacement so I could... you know... feel anything?
If anybody has one of these things I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

i love my civic, i clocked 420 miles on the last fill-up of 93 octane, part-highway, part town/city driving. the wife is looking at the Fit or the new xD as a replacement for her totaled xB. of course, i'm nudging her toward the Fit....
the fit has a pretty decent after market background thanks to the fact it was out in japan and england for something like 5 years before it was released in the U.S. also since honda has been making it so long they have the majority of the kinks worked out of it. but if you want good gas mileage there is a rumor going around that honda might try to redo the insight in the next couple of years.

You do realize that gas mileage measurements have changed since 7thgens came out right? That means that our ratings can't be compared to the Fits...
Anyways, my wife is in love with these cars. She wants the Blaze Orange Sport with Paddle Shifters...Don't know if I really want one though.
My 2dr EX manual gets 34-36mpg mix of city and highway. I can probably get about 38 if I drove just highway. Fuck the EPA, they don't know how to rate real world mpg.
Supercharger: hell no. The whole point of this car would be efficiency and reliability. Less worries = more happy.
I refuse to get another 7th gen for no good reason. I just don't want one.
Regarding the 420 miles on one talk of gas, I got 515 miles on a single tank in my 325i a while back. It was all highway cruising at about 75mph. I was very happy that day.
fit is a good car, and good on gas if you drive like a granny, not so good on gas at all if you drive it hard. I was also very impressed with the handling and braking and the interior space.

True, but not THAT much bigger. A 515 mile cruising range divided by 16.6 US gallons = about 31mpg. For a MY2001 German car with a bunch of miles and an inline 6, that's not bad at all.
