here's the youtube on the new hyundai genesis coupe.
The cars going to come in two versions, I4 turbo estimated around 200hp and a v6 3.8L estimated at around 300hp. The v6 is thought to be priced around $25k or under and the i4 turbo they think is probably going to be $19-21k range.
There going to offer LSD and brembo brakes as options from the factory.
The best part is that the car is rwd.
Its also suppose to be able to seat 4 people, probably similar to the rx8.
yeah, the front kinda reminds me of a is250 and the rear kinda looks like a g35.
I think if they can keep the weight close to 3000lbs. I think they'll have a winner. This is definately steal away some si buyers. If they keep to there price ranges.
It'll be nice to have a turbo car with 100,000 mile warranty.

Hyundai & Kia is going to be the next Honda&Toyota, or kinda close in the near future imo.
They're not what they used to be. Hyundai already has 3 SUV's, 1 minivan, 2 mid-size sedans, Etc.. Kia has 2 SUV's, 1 crossover SUV, 1 minivan and a bunch of other cars. Etc.....
but no matter what.
Honda, Toyota, Nissan > Hyundai, Kia
I only have one thing to say............it has a 100,000 mile warranty for a reason. We have used hyuadi's come through our dealership.....man they are rough after some miles.

The statement about Hyundai/Kia being the next Honda/Toyota is incorrect, rather, Hyundai/Kia is what Honda/Toyota USED to be... that is a pretty quality made car that has a worthwile price tag.. that was the market niche Honda/Toyota HAD, but now their cars have become inflated, and don't have the "best bang for your buck" slogan like Hyundai/Kia have now...
your forgettng that something like 90% of Kia is rebadged fords. so Kia is not even in the same ballpark as Hyundai.
hyundai owns kia. Hyundai's long term plan is to make kia there sporty line and hyundai there main stream line.
Most of the hyundai's are made in there alabama plant and i believe the kia's are too.
Hyundai does have a part sharing and R&D program with ford and chrysler in europe I believe. It mainly to develop diesel's for the european market, since the euro's are years ahead of everyone else in diesel tech. Honda might be the only exception if new diesel performs as well as they say it does.

i would drive the s*** out of a diesel civic. high torque with good economy FTW. on the hyundai genesis it also mentioned something about a 4 door version in the future. i would be curious to see what that looks like. this one is almost too edgy or bold for me. good find though
i'd still like to buy one if i didn't have plans for an is300 2jz swap
thats always a classic. i was going to buy one too since there so cheap now, but there so many ricers with the is300 now where i live. So it kinda turned me off to buying it.

On another note - keep in mind that Kia may also be getting a version of this Coupe very soon. It'll likely be a tiny bit weaker but priced accordingly - ready for modification...

yeah if you pay attention, hyundai is actually copying exactly what Toyota did. Make cheap cars first then slowly build up quality at a cheap price. Then move on to more premium cars, there just doing it faster then the Japanese.
I think people forget, people use to buy hondas because the build quality was good and the price was cheap. Honda still has good build quality, but there prices are not so cheap anymore.

you can tell its the civic SI fighter. Since it basically looks like a si. If they keep the si price, then i think honda is going to have some trouble. You can only ride the more reliability and resale wagon for so long.
I still can't believe honda's hasn't switched to direct injection yet. Even hyundai is doing it.

basically the koup is going to be the si fighter and the hyundai coupe is going to be the poor man's g35.
looks like people were right that the 200hp is completely detuned. Looks like the tuned version can do 290hp.
