Think of some automotive metaphors to help me out please.

I need some automotive metaphors for my technical writing class. I want to be a mechanical engineer and I would like to eventually focus on something automotive focused. I want some metaphors used in the automotive field. I don't know, you could give me any that you've heard, used, or know of.

According to dictionary.com, a metaphor is a figure of speech in which an expression is used to refer to something that it does not literally denote in order to suggest a similarity.

So, does anyone have any ideas? I guess "jumpstarting a car" is an example because a car wouldn't normally jump.

That is a good one, thanks. That is refering to the cars handling and suspension right? I have to explain it to other non-enthusiasts/non-engineers.

Any other ones?

here i think there are ok to use, no like or as and comparing 2 unlike things

so my car was a train taking the corners

the car had more power than a GE plant

my car is cleaner than NASA's test facility

the wheels spun faster than a roulete table

the stero was louder than a live concert

How bout... I polished my head like a vegas hooker?

I meshed gears smooth as a clock.

The sound of the engine embodied hundreds of horses.

My tires gripped like adhesive on flypaper.

And so on...

Granny shifting and double clutching right

drive by the seat of your pants

that guy shifts like a one legged man in an ass kicking contest

he hits donuts like the popo

that fart cannon is good for at least 20 hp

my car is slower than miss daisy

happiness is being stroked and blown
