Isn't it v6? Technically its not in the same class, because the price is probably in the high 20k. It most likely wont be ULEV, will be a gas guzzler, heavy, and not the same reliability as the civic. I'm biased though sorry.

We all are.
I agree fully though... It won't have a chance competing with the reliability and gas mileage of a Si... Go Si!
Sorry to tell u mitsu lovers, but since mitsu is doing so bad in the USDM, GM might buy them and they might sell all of there US dealers and move completly to japan.
i agree with most of you that its ugly and the si will look better and be very close in performance making the si the better choice however ... qboi i doubt that its going to be high 20's cus there is a v6 out now it will probly be low 20's to mid 20's loaded it wont be a gas guzzler cus its mitsubishi not ford... roughly the same category... as for reliability i agree

I read it in the wall street journal
thats true. i heard months and months ago that mitsubishi was doing terrible and gm had been pouring money into the company "investing in it" so eventually i think mistubishi will die out in this country at least. i dont think gm will buy the whole mitsubishi company just because there are hundreds of companyies that mitsubishi owns.... check it out at www.mitsubishi.com

Well I think overall they will pull out there dealers, and what would happen from owners of mitsu's is that they would need to go to a GM dealer for servic, parts ETC...

Just because they own many different susidiaries doesn't mean they won't let there auto making branch in the US die out. Same thing happened to DAEWOO. DAEWOO makes TV's and other applanices too, but they let it die out because there auto branch was so much in debt.
GM might invest more money in misubishi to keep them afloat, but i doubt they'll do a full take over. They'll probably just do what ford has done with suburu and mazda. Let them be autonomous, and develop there own R &D then later barrow the technology to put into there own cars.
I dont think the new eclipse will compete in the same market as the new Civic Si anyways. The new eclipse is based off the galant platform and is going about to cost in the upper 20's. The new eclipse is more of a competitor to the accord coupe then the Civic Si. There positioning the car as a galant coupe basically.

Everyone that I know with a Mitsubishi has it sitting in the shop all the time, I think I would prefer a car that I can see more often then the shop does.
i saw this design in 2002. My uncle heads the design team out in cypress, CA that did that body style.....his team also did the 95-99 body style and the 00-current. they make them out of clay, ship them to japan, and if they like it there, they send it back with the modifications that they thought were needed. then its produced.

Just to correct some of the misinformation being spread:
General Motors owns a part of the Subaru parent company Fuji Heavy Industries, not Ford like stated earlier. (Ford does own a 33%, I believe that is the correct amount, share of Mazda)
Diam. Benz (i.e. Mercedes) owns Mitsubishi, not General Motors, they bought it shortly after they took control of Chrysler.
I don't see why General Motors would be interested in buying Mitsubishi at the moment as they just rid themselves of Fiat and they still have Daewoo ownership laying around.
