since all u guys are like me,im posting a question:
does modding our cars fall under a hobby, or a addiction?
personally i aint rich like some of these kids on this site, also, my mom dosent buy me all my parts, so im livin paycheck to paycheck because i cant stop buying part for my civ. so am i addicted? or just enthused? everytime i say, ok, im done buying shit, i find somthing to get, and become broke again. i mean, i took a god dam loan out of my bank to get boosted!
any thoughts, you guys feel the same way?

i am 16 and every cent i make seems to go straight to gas or my car. I hve spent nearly $2000 and buying some 18's tommorow, and i make all my own money. so i guess i'm either stupid or addicted cause everytime i say i am done spending money on my car i decide to get something else.
Well I don't have no job and just bought my civic and i'm already starting to shop around for stuff to put on the car. I think we are addicted to parts shopping. But to take out a loan just to get boosted

I modify my car in order to make it and me perform better at my hobbie.. which is Autocross. So, modding is not a hobbie or addiction to me, but simply a modification of a tool that allows me to be more compeditive.

"I know Solo only comes one minute at a time, but what an intense, non-stop, fast-forward car control exercise minute it is. Sure, the velocity is higher in road racing, but inside the car it is slow-motion in comparison. In Solo, the turns come like machine-gun rounds. "

I would say it's an addiction! People, including myself say that okay im done spending money for parts on this car! They are flipping through a magazine and BAM a new part is available for our car! There is something about buying one more part that makes the modifying experience worth while and exciting! I know that I'll probably never be able to stop buying new parts for my car( only minor inexpensive ones now)! My mom used to ask me," when are you gonna stop buying crap for your car?" I gave her an honest answer and said "I don't know!" My car is unique and i want my car to express my style! I believe that is the main reason people modify their cars in the first place!
What did you tell the bank the loan was for when you got boosted? Cause I wanna do it.
dude i was just like, hey...i need 2 grand for repairs on my vehicle, and i wasent lying because the thing was slow as s h i t , and it needed to be fixed. but the cool thing is i got 2000.00, and its 60 bucks a month for 3 years. aint that bad....

Damn, 60's not bad. Did you install the kit yourself? I was thinking about maybe getting 3 grand, so I can get the kit and maybe have some left over to get it installed.
Can anyone link me to a good priced kit for out cars?
well i had a used SF kit scoped out for 1800.00, and i just got the 2 grand to have extra money for odds and ends. if u are any kind of mechanically inclined you can install the kit yourself, hardest part i found was trying to fit the turbo and manifold down between out radiatior support and the motor! there are plenty of stafford kits for sale on here usually. prototype just bought one, and if you cant find one of thoes im sure there are other brands
Anyone else get irritated when they have to spend money on dinner, and gifts for their gf and have to put off a mod they had been saving for? I think I need help....

i think its a very addictive hobby, but i love searching for things for my car (more searching than buying though).
i know how you feel about not being able to get things for the car because of the girl. but my girlfriend has been in college (hawaii) for about 5 months and i just realized how much i used to spend on us going out or on gifts. don't get me wrong though, i love doing things for her. but i'm taking full advantage of her not being here and getting as much as i can for my car while she is in hawaii.
Pretty addictive I think. Once you get something done to your car you think you filled in the hole but litle do you know that its only the begging. You then start finding little parts of the car to fill in so they will complement your latest mod..... and the cycle goes around.
MAN....that the same SH!T that happens to me......Some times I think its a hobby but some times I spend more on my car or I put my car and my mods over a lot of stuff that a lot of people would never do it .....so I'm pretty sure I'm Addicted....and the relief that don't last long its "MODS" !!!!!!
I think its an addicting hobby like snowboarding is (not as expensive, but you get the idea) . I cant get enough of either . But taking out a loan for the boosties, I personally wouldnt do but if you wanted it that bad then more power to you homie at least u got the boost!
addiction...use to buy and buy and buy. stopped for a few monthes, said already im set with a kit, drop, rims, system, etc. and im contend for a while and saving and realizing how u can save so fast if ur not blowing it on parts.
