All models might be a bit more than they are now but not by much. Honda owns a sizeable portion of the market. If they price the Civic too high then they literally will price themselves out of the market they already doing so well in. And as can be seen by other new realtively new cars to the market like the Scion Tc, Cobalt and Neon SRT-4, they offer a big bang for the buck in performance/features. Either Honda competes or they lose. The big question will be how much more the Si will cost then the EX. The Acura Type-S costs 23.6k right now and there is NO way the Si will cost more than this. Other than the engine/tranny, im guessing that 90% of the remaining parts will be the same as the other civics. The engine has already been developed from the RSX so there was no additional cost to do this. Thus its gonna be cheaper for them to produce and remain competitive. Im guessing it will cost 21k as the cheapest and 23k as the max. So i'll hazard a guess that the msrp will be 21.9k And for that price my car will be sold as soon as the Si comes out so i can buy one.
you have to keep in mind that the 8th gen isn't completely competiting in the market the 7th gen was. The 8th gen is going to compete in the lx and above area so around 16k+ area. The Jazz/fit will compete where the civic hx and dx competes in now, so basically the 12-16k area.
You cant even get HIDS, and NAVI on the TypeS. So it is very possible that it might even cost more then the TypeS if you get an SI with all the options. Honestly, i'd rather have HIDS, NAVI and a LSD then 10 extra hp.
I bet the handling on the new SI is probablying going to be better then the TypeS too, Considering honda understands MacPherson Struts a little better then they did before with the 7th gen and rsx. I agree it'll probably top out at 24k with out dealer mark up. I'm sure everyone going have to pay over sticker once this car comes out, the SI that is.

Ya that was a really weird move by Acura by not offering HIDS, NAVI and LSD on the RSX as options. I would have gotten them for sure if that was the case. LSD should have been standard but there was no point for them to put that in when they already had the best coupe in the market for that price and below. People are for sure gonna get raped on the over sticker prices for like 6 months to a year and unfortunately one of them will be me I'd guess at the handling being near the same level as the RSX as well. All depends on how high they keep the car off the ground. RSX's come of the lot looking like 4x4's. When you drop them even an inch, OH MY GOD, handling goes from alright to SEXCELLENT!! I was riding on some Spoon springs for a while (2 inch drop) and they totally transformed the car even tho it was a bit too bumpy. Anyways, they did make a point that they minimized wheel gap and that would be great so not as many people have to go out and buy aftermarket suspension.
another thing, what is running lean? people say that turbo make your car run lean. does it mean that the car runs lean to the side, like an allignment problem?
With the coupe being this sexy, who needs a hatch!?!
I agree. I like the hatch because its a bit mor versatile for me...more stacking room but I'm just glad were getting the sedan were getting. Im in love with it and cant wait.
Korn: I think its the k20a3 for the ex...I know "I" am not confirming anything but I think that the si is taking the flame from the rsx and the ex will become the si of now and the fit/jazz/whatever will take the place of the ex/lx of now. hope that makes sense

I love my hatch right now too for that versatility factor but for what everything that the Si is going to be, losing the hatch is a price that im willing to pay. Does anyone know if it costs a car manufactuer more to make a hatchback or a sedan? (based on the same platform of course)
The k20a3 would make the most sense for the EX. It looks like the 8th gen civic will be a bit heavier so a bigger engine would be welcome. Regardless of the weight a bigger engine will normally get you less mileage so that would be the only negative. Honda might keep the 127hp engine for the DX model tho to keep the car cheaper off the lot as well as make it cheaper over the long run with its higher mpg.

There only offering those options now because the cost is a little lower then when the rsx first came out and honda's competition already offers them as options for cars that compete against the civic already.
Honda also stated they wanted to move the civic more of a premium brand.

The 5-dr hatch Civic shown at the Geneva auto show (vtec.net) is very unique, and some may say it's ugly, but from some angles it looks very aggressive and nothing out there looks like it. I like the direction Honda is going - be bold, be different. Current Civic is so bland.
