i don't understand how they can have a sound clip of the actual production motor when it wasn't even in the car at the auto show. i'm thinking it was just a sound clip from one of the k-series motors...k20a,a2,z1,etc...
So they have to actually install the engine for the model? The entire chassis was built in 3 weeks. I doubt they could get a working model in time for the auto show.

for the posts saying it (SI) cant be on the road test driving yet, yesterday morning i was driving to class and i saw the new honda jazz with SI badges driving by me, it was a middle aged guy driving it. so there MAY be a chance that honda IS test driving the SI somewhere.
2006 civic si chicago auto show vid. They have a sound clip of the car. The sound clip sounds like a RSX Type S. I'm starting to like the spoiler, the tips look aggressive like they are going to attack.
If you watch the john mendel interview on TOV. He states that he did test drive a proto type SI already, but he can't mention details of it. So there is a proto type SI out that the Honda executes are test driving out there. The person that saw the SI with some middle aged guy in it, is probably true. He's probably some honda exec driving and probably giving his input in what to keep on the si and what to get rid of due to cost or necessity.
Mendel also doesn't correct TOV on there statement of the rsx being discontinued after the current generation rsx. He doesn't state much as fact, but does imply many things.
Yes, I would find it very hard to believe that Honda wouldnt have at least several prototypes (in case of accidents or theives and such) driving around the honda headquarters wherever it is. Cali? Thats what they did with the 04 TL. Keep your eyes peeled and have your camera with you.....as time draws near, someone is likely to spot the actual production version.
another thing, what is running lean? people say that turbo make your car run lean. does it mean that the car runs lean to the side, like an allignment problem?

yeah they designed the SI in the Torrance, CA office. I think thats where there main R&D office is for NA. Its the same place where they designed the 7th gen coupe.

Wow - That looks sweet! I think the center exit boxter style "dual" exhaust looks lame though. Doesn't really scream power - would look better with something like the Acura TL or TSX. I wonder what it would look like with a good 'ol set of cans hung under the rear. Photoshop anyone?
LOL i remember a while back the newest gen cavalier was at a car show making a debut and someone wrote the VIN down and got a key made no questions asked at a chevy dealer and took the car. It wasnt even released yet and someone stole one!

i know i had a j-body before (1996 cavy) and they are horrible. I will never buy an american car. honda, acura, toyota, scion, lexus, and ferrari are all I look at anymore(well not scion but its a toyota and maybe they will bring something really good to the table soon). especially honda with all the hawtness the new 8th gen is appearing to be.
