The honda line was a joke. You got remember, VW is like king in europe... its consider to be up there w/ audi, bmw and merc. Basically the mean, the GTi is just a better overall buy.
^^^ OK no reason to keep repeating it over and over again in the same thread, much less two posts down from eachother. Impressive lap time...1 min 33.xx ....the BMW M3, 350Z, and RX-8 all got 1 min 31.8...pretty good for a FWD turbo hatch...
By ending up with a Honda, he means an uninspired grocery getter. With nearly all Hondas (NSX and a few other exceptions aside), that's what you get. The GTI has a significantly sportier hertiage than the Civic. You could also take the line as a compliment... When you buy a honda, you end up with a fuel efficient, well engineered, value priced vehicle, AKA a Honda.
The Honda kicks some much butt, but the gay host still doesn't give it recognition. Civic Type R has the best track time, has great looks as well. You should have seen what he said about the NSX Type R, which they tested in Heavy reain.
The host is biased towards European cars.
About the sporty heritage thing civics have been racing before you were able to walk. AutoXing, drag racing, Honda's have been sporty cars for quite some time. Keep in mind how long we have had double wishdone independent rear suspension. Untill this new GTI the Golf has a solid rear beam type Suspension.

I guess Europeans don't get the same brazilain made GTIs that we get here. I wouldn't mind VW so much, if it didn't have the reliability issues.

that was a great find! I enjoyed watching but that guy is a prick. he is obviously paid on the side by the VW group cuz he always sides with quattro and vw regardless of competition.
And the type r is on its way out while the gti is the latest and greatest. Lets just wait until the next type r hatch comes out and hope it comes to the states.
If anything VW just sent a memo to Honda of Japan, "You have been beat by our GTi"
I hope Honda responds!
