STIvs.EVOvs.Eclipse GSX

Which would you prefer for that sweet sweet traction machine?

Me personally.....I love the GSX. For the price and what is sold in the aftermarket you can't beat it. I built one that ran a 11.8sec quarter. Not too shabby. Only problem with Mitsu is that are rattle traps. Too bad. The sacrafices that we have to make.

I know I could build a mean eclipse for the price of the STI

What do you guys think?

I havent had the chance to drive the STI yet....I have driven the WRX which was nice. I just can't see all that money wasted for the STI. I could build a couple of different types of cars that would outperform an STI in everyway(performance, handling, and braking) for less $$$ then a NEW STi

I like the Evo. I know the engine isn't as large as the STi or the aftermarket support isn't as great as the Eclipse GSX, but I like the style and the fact that you can remove the wing and turn it into a great sleeper.

My friends eclipse had about 450hp and he would launch at 7000rpm....you would literally be looking at the sky. We would go big boy hunting in it......ukno the vipers and vettes and all those cars that the owners think that they are top dog because they paid 50-100k for there car. Its fun to see the looks on their faces when they get beat by a "rice rocket" by 2-3 car lengths......Half of them would bail down a side street to skip out on the embarasment. The EVO is a sleeper except for those wider fenders, brembo brakes and front mounted I/C. But most people know its an evo with or without the wing.

Skyline is a very good choice. I just picked up the new Sport Compact Car and it has an article about the R35 skyline GT-R coming to america in the winter of 06. Its going to get a destroked version of the vq35de which will become the vq30dett and will have about 400hp and all wheel drive as well as a 7 speed sequential manual gearbox. Its going to look like a G35 coupe but different front bumper and the traditional round taillights. Im already saving my money.

I like the new 05 STI , but honestly, I wouldn't pay 34k for it. If I wanted a fast car, I would've gotten GSX and spend couple G's to make it fast..

Well, a friend of mine have a 04 WRX, and on the streets, it races Sti's and a lot of Evos, he is doing 12.6 with about $5,000 spent on the engine.

The only problem with WRX's is that the tranny is too weak, he have broken his' 3 times, and I've seen a lot of WRXs owners saying the same. So they don't like to use it for track drag racing, but they race a lot on streets (rolled)

Now, the STi has a really a strong transmission, and it looks a lot better than the EVO.

That is true....those trannys suck.....I used to work in the parts dept at a subaru dept. and the wrx would always be in the shop for tranny problems. Its from people tryin to powershift them. I looked inside and 1st and 2nd gear are almost completely gone.

Prove it. You won't be able to touch it. My best friend has an 05 STi with the GP Moto Stage 1 kit. Intake, Equal length headers, turbo-back exhaust and pre-programmed piggy. Guarantees 370 ft lbs tq to the ground and 350 whp. We checked it on the wideband and its running perfect. The car is a beast. Go to clubRSX and watch the topgear video on the EVO vs Lambo. The guy cuts the EVO down so bad. It even gets beat by a FIAT on a runway from a top gear roll race. 1.7 miles later the FIAT beat the EVO cause it couldn't even get into boost. 05 STi tranny handles 600 TQ nonstop. The rods and crank are forged and the pistons are a new thermal coated hypertech pistion that were tested against forged pistons and they held up longer and better. Yes they come in a USDM STi motor. The rally teams are actually using those pistons instead. You couldnt build a better car. EVO/MR has nothing on a 05 STI. Try gettin a EVO MR...only made 1,000 and none more. Ever.

Pull on a evo in the corner? One of the greatest handling, cornering machine in the world? A car that out cornered and handle better than a lambo marcialago on Top Gear and other cars 2, 3, 4x it's price? Rigggggghhhht.
