engine oil you should turn the car on, drive it for a minute or so, and then check. donno about the tranny...

Check tranny fluid the same way, warmed a little... or shall we say, operating temperature.

check both with the car off also. checking it with the car on gives you a false reading.

for engine, you can check the oil level at least like 5 min after the engine shut off so that it has time for the oil to drain back to the pan. For auto tranny fluid, think it should be checked with the car at operating temperature and driven for at least a couple of miles, and then check the level with the engine running.

you DO NOT check the tranny fluid with the engine running. Especially on a honda. If you do that, you will have your whole stick covered in fluid. You turn off the car, then check the fluid level, should be between the 2 lines.
