Yay Finally Honda is doing something interesting. I have a friend who works for Fedex...while delivering to ALLISTON, Ontario (assembly plant for honda) he happened to run into a worker there (head of recieving) and he showed him around a lil bit and guess what....the 2006 will be completly rediesigned for that year , drivetrain and all......All I have to say is THANK GOD its about freakin time. Was told displacement was being uppedand bodystyle will change YAAAAAYYY

umm...glad your happy dude ,but that is not exactly new earth shattering information. Its been floating around for quite some time. I've heard rumors of the CRX coming back soon. Personally I would like to see an Si Coupe.
thats funny i haven't seen one thing pertaining to the 2006 civic ever.. lool
crx coming back? you arent talking about the thread with the PHOTOSHOPPED picture of 'the new' crx are you? because thats fake.. i think.
I've only read some very slight rumors on the CRX coming back. (various web articles) Mostly speculation. As for the 2006, the major car magazines always have sections on whats in store for the coming years. They haven't mentioned specs, but they have discussed how it will be a complete redesign having models available with more emphasis on performance.
as a side note, the U.S. should be recieving the Honda "Fit" sometime this summer or in 2006. It is smaller than the civic, which makes you wonder if the civic will now be in the middle of the range for Honda and perhaps recieve slightly better features than the typical econo box
The Vic will now have to compete with the Mazda3 and the Scion tC, both of which have 160 hp. I see the Vic being equiped with at least that, if not maybe a 170hp version of the RSX engine (forgot damn engine code now, lol).

guys....I GOT SOME REALLY REALLY REALLY RELIABLE SOURCES....let me give u some background...
ok I work for a company, partially owned by honda, we are constantly having meetings and so on...well 2 days ago, one of the BIG GUYS were here...well I was talking with one of them, who happens to be one of the head guys behind the new civic...and he was telling me that its gonna come with 200 hp...now u can't get more reliable source than that, and I highly doubt he was lying...he saw my car and we started talking and I mentioned the low hp numbers on our cars...and he was like, well next year that wont be an issue and thats when he told me...and yeah, a redesign, he said its gonna sexy...now what do u guys think this will do to the other companies in our cars catagory...I personally think they're all ****ed....if the civic comes out with 200hp and a leather option, and rear disks and so on...I think these companies will lose a lot of potential buyers
Well it'd make sense for them to use a K20A2 in it, it's already in production, and it's really easy to install. I can guess that it will be a redesign around the current chassis, but with changes in overall body style. Similar to the 4-5-6th gen civics.
but i doubt it does, otherwise theyre gona have to bump up the rsx more than 210

I agree, 200 probably isn't likely. An engine on par with the RSX doesn't exactly fit into the civic's price category. If I had to speculate I would guess around 160. Thats pretty competetive with cars in its class. Perhaps we will see an Si or something with 200, but I doubt standard trim models will see such power. Just my own ponderings though, I have nothing to back this up.

Thank you for saving me all the typing as I was going to write the same thing. I doubt that they would throw 160 and match the competition; they will probably detune it a bit to 150 and still rely on the reliability factor of Hondas as a selling point. You will never see such a huge bump of 73 horses from one model year to another, not without raising the price by a few grand, at least!

200 hp in a stock civic? i highly doubt that. the civic is an econ car known for it's gas milage, not it's power/speed. maybe 200 hp in a coup si...but i highly doubt the ex would come with that. and i'm the president of honda, so i am the most reliable sorce you can get. hahahaha j/k
well...the guy didn't say if it was on a standard trim...but I would doubt they have a "si" with 200hp...its not as far fetched as soom of u guys are making it seem...and like I said, this came from the mouth of one of the engineers working on the car...so, I highly doubt he is bullshiting me, there were other people around too, people in higher positions then him...and so on...I really do think we will see this...he also mentioned that the good gas milage will still be there. Im sure they'll price it higher...
yeah def. no 200hp. that would kill rsx sales numbers and then the si would have no place in the line up unless that was bumped up and the rsx. What would happen to the type R civic in Japan? that would have to be bumped up to 250? or so? It would throw off the whole honda and acura line up if that happened. So all we can hope for is a k serise with 160hp.
Since its already an option over seas I would guess we get a version of the 2.0i-vtec. According to Honda Thailand's web site the 2.0i sedan produces 114 Kw which is roughly 153 Hp. That seems like a reasonable # for a base, and I could possibly see a new si being in 200 hp range.
Hopefully it will be up to 2.0 if not, perhaps as an option.....
but personally, it could be a 1.8L and a 2.0L.
Just curious, what does Civic Si get in the city in terms of MPG?
