Rep Power: 0 Usually I get about 20-40 miles after the light comes on. It is never the same tho, just usually within that range. Speaking of.. my friend and I were driving his jetta on the freeway when his light came on. He was driving the car well into the 5.5-6 rpm range and swore when his light came on he'd get at least 40 miles. I told him he wouldn't because of how fast the gas was being used up.. to his amazement we ran out of gas about 15 miles later.

Rep Power: 0 I rarely let my tank get below 1/4, but a friend of mine, an Accord owner, used to regularly let his light come on. He would normally always get about 50 miles after the light came on, but just recently when it happened, he only got about 5 miles before the car died. He couldn't figure it out, until I asked him where he was when the car conked out - it turned out that he going up a stretch of highway with a pretty steep incline.
I'm not positive that's what made the difference (I would think that there would still be enough gas even if it did slosh to one side of the tank), but he said it was odd that it was the only time he didn't get as far as he thought he would.

Rep Power: 0 For all of us who have been driving with the warning light on, always remember that the less fuel you have left in the tank, the more dirt the fuel pump is sucking in the line (dirt being heavier than gas, the rest on the bottom of the gas tank) which could prematurely ruin the filter and clog the injectors...
That is a big no...

Rep Power: 0 I think it depends on how u are drivin. If u burn less fuel. The dealership told me that I have about 20 miles left after the light but im not tryin to find out.

the light came on with about 2 gallons left today....but i was stuck in stop-n-go traffic for an hour because of an accident. so 3 gal seems right...plus or minus 1.

Rep Power: 293 i normally try to get 350 miles per tank out of my car, its mainly city driving, some highway, like a 70/30 split. when my light goes on, i normally have to go another 20-30 miles before achieving 350miles. its normally 12 gallons when i fill up.
most i ever went was 90 miles after the light came on. when i filled up, i filled just over 13 gallons, i was lucky, pushed my luck hard, but got 455.7 miles out of that tank

Rep Power: 0 Well usually you get as many miles till it actually runs out, there have been a couple threads about this search for them.
