Brake Groan

I posted in the correct forum, and got no response.
If you don't know, at least tell me you don't know, and I should have it looked at.
Bad help is better than no help.
--------------------------------------

This is my first stick, so this may be a common issue and I just don't know about it.

When parking on hills, I pull the parking brake, and have always left the car in neutral (I know I know, put it in first).

When I get back in the car to leave, and put my foot on the brake, and drop the parking brake and then I release my foot from the brake, I hear a loud groaning noise coming from the rear. Very deep and somewhat loud.

It also happens when I'm parking on a hill, and pull the parking brake. When I take my foot off of the brake it makes the same noise.

I'm assuming its the brakes catching or something; Is this normal?

That sound is normal.....I have an auto and mine does that when I park on a hill, especially if the nose of the car is going
down instead of the rear. That sound is just the brakes releasing under a little more weighted stress, since the car is not sitting level.
Don't worry about it, it is normal...if it gets too excessively loud, take it to your dealer and tell themn to fix that shi*t.
Hope that helps man. And yes, I pull my emergency brake everytime I park, and I have an auto...why....it's good for the brakes, or so I was told by an old, but wise mechanic that used to work on my Accord. Later !!
