2006 prelude?

my friend just told me that there might be a 2006 prelude but it will be rear wheel drive and have the f20(s2000) motor in it..

he works at a dealership and his managers told him..
i know alot of people will say "wont believe it till i see it"..but is this new or old news?

I don't know if it's new or old news but I personally believe that it is fake news lol~ Basically Honda Prelude is discontinued and that means Prelude is gone. If there is a chance that Prelude is coming back in 2006, it would be officially claimed by Honda not your friend's managers~ Some people just love to BS I guess~ I've heard about so many rumors such as the 2005 Civic Type R, 180HP Civic coupe, or even funnier ones like Civic with "V8" motor... I think you're the first one who started talking about the 2006 Prelude by the way~

nah..i wasn't the first one to talk about bringing back the prelude..thanks for ur input..i wanted to see what people would say..like i said..most ppl will say they will only believe it when they see it..even i say that..

Why would they make a totaly new rear drive f series powered coupe if all they have to do is throw a fixed roof on the S2000? Which i have seen concepts of.

ive heard from my dealer that next year there supposed to come out with an SI coupe due to the lack of selling the hatchback style....

i am working right now(at my honda dealership) and they said that the prelude will never come back. when they were on the market everyone wanted them but no one wanted to pay for them. if it had a s2000 motor in it, it would cost even more and then nobody would want it. because of the insurance preiums and that lack of a selling audience the prelude was stopped. they more than likely won't bring it back.

I highly doubt the Prelude will re-emerge. The cost factor in producing that car with that engine would not benefit Honda in any way.

It is more than likely the proposed S2000 coupe they have been hinting at for a little while (AKA Not Convertible).

Just wanna add one more comment here~ The Prelude is not only discontinued in U.S, but also gone in Japan. Since Honda in Japan decided to discontinue Prelude, there is no chance that Honda in U.S would be able to bring it back. Prelude is not a bad car at all, but not a worthy car as well...

I don't know what Honda is planning but I do think they should get a powerful compact coupe, something smaller than the Accord coupe. If Honda did make it, it's number 1 competition would already be the RX-8.
