Actually, the EL was first introduced in the 1997 model year. I know because I bought a 96 Civic sedan in 96 and there was no EL yet, or else I would have most definitely bought that instead. Although now I'm driving a 2001 EL.
ELs are nice for the price and the power options... am so glad i got one... and i drove in the 04 the other day really nice...
i like my generation better tho... looks better... (97-00)

Just a quick question, are the headlights from the civics interchangable with those on the EL?
Nope. Definitely the 1.6's don't fit on the Civic. But even the 1.7's don't fit. If you look a little closer or have an EL and Civic side by side, you'll see they angle a little sharper on the EL than the Civic.
