plus why would car manufacturers make the speedos inaccurate off the assembly line to begin with and where do you get this 4 mph inaccuracy from the manufacturer from?
yeah, at 140mph, the difference between indicated vs actual on your speedo would be about 6mph plus whatever difference it would have been with stock tires.
so actually giving you benefit of the doubt, at 140mph indicated speed, a stock civic would be going an actual 133mph or so, and your car would be going 127mph or so.

that's just common knowledge. speedometers are not a completely exact science. their indicated is always greater than actual. one reason this is done, is to prevent lawsuits. imagine if you got a ticket cuz your stock, unaltered civic told you you were going 50mph, but you were really going 55. you'd sue!
so yes, auto manufacturers always make the speedo give you an indicated speed of slightly less than your actual speed.
for example, on my S2000 (and this is radar verified)
when i'm going 42mph indicated, i'm only going 40mph actual.
when i'm going 103mph indicated, i'm only going 99mph actual.
and at 127mph indicated, i'm only going 122mph actual.
pointless? i think explaining why a speedo is off on indicated vs actual speed, as well as getting into how tire size affects the indicated speed vs stock is a big difference.
read and you might learn something. don't be a smart ass. i dont' deal very well with smart asses.
i dont know why my limiter didnt kick in, but it didnt. i have some pics, but i have to get the roll developed still. And yes i was at about 6600 rpms, still 400 rpms to go till
rev limiter.
also, when i went by the radarsign at 117, it regestered 117, so i dont know if it was off too, but they were the same. i know that bikes are usually about 10% off, but i dont know about cars %.
also i have the same size tires as oe so thats not a factor.
i can go 125 easy without nos. Just intake, headers, exhaust, hyper ground kit, pullie, spark plugs.
The rpm should be around 6300 for 125 mph. I tried to go more, but I dont want to use my nos. I think 125 my governer.
i heard the top speed on automatics were slightly less than a stick on the vics. i haven't tested this out on my stick cause i haven't had a reason to take my economy car to a track yet.
