So you people with Automatics, do you use the parking brake when you park the car? One guy I used to work with would get mad at me because I used it. Kept saying "It's an auto, you don't need to use it." He would always take the brake off when he got into my car. Pissed me off. And half the people at work don't use it when the get done using the work van, so the parking brake was really worn out.

The manual says to use it. I have an automatic and I use it all the time. It says it relieves the stress on the gears or something when you put the car from driving to park.
mak.

i use it all the time, for auto cars it helps take off pressure from your parking mechanism thing i think, esp on hills. and your supposed to pull up the ebrake first when you park, then put it into park, and wen leaving put the ebrake down first, then shift drive or reverse, and youll never get that clunk sound wen shifting out from park

Agreed. I use it ALL the time.
My dad didn't use to and when he took his drums to repair the tech guy told him to use it cuz its better for the drums....I dunno, don't ask me LOL
I never use mine either really unless on a hill like many of you have said already, but have never heard anything about the car being hurt whether you use it or not. But are any of yours e-brakes getting loose? lately when i pull mine it doesnt feel secure. I must confess ive used it a few times in ways i shouldnt have(other than parking) but i tired to use it the same way and it hardly locked, which is good now cuz i wont do it anymore but has this happened to anyone else????

i always use it, it takes stress off your transmission when parking... shifts all the weight on your brakes instead of your tranny... probably prolongs the life of your transmission too.
if iam on a hill i will use it... otherwise when i let off the break i will feel the car move forward still (not good), so i always use the parking break... If im on a regular road, then i wont use it
also... Going like 30mph and pulling it to go into a slide is fun
