tracking device?

So I get a letter from sloane honda (a dealer by me) saying my milage is 25,662... im not exactly sure what my milage is but i know theyre w/in 100 miles.. do they track it?? Ive been to sloane once.. to fix the rubber under my car and that was in april or march!. Ive never been there for oil changes, inspections.. NOTHING.. so how are they so accurate? actually they did that to me when i bought my car sugesting that i get an oil change!!! i think they guesstimate how much you drive or whatever and send you a letter!! because they were almost on the correct mileage with mine i was like 2000 under the mileage they guessed !! Dun worry you got no tracking device LOL

They know when the car was bought when they punch it into the computer. If you were in there once, they've got the milage. They figure out how much time it took you to get XXXXXX miles and average that to miles/length of time. If you're driving a routine (i.e. back and forth to work) then your average miles/week isn't changing much and they're computer can accurately figure out your milage and when you're due to pay them more money.
