Rep Power: 310 Auto is good for stop and go traffic. But it gets mad boring on longrides and nice straight highways. A stick is more 'sporty'.
If I buy a manual car, it probably won't be a dinky Civic.

Rep Power: 0 auto.. which at first i regretted,
but when i think about it, my car is really heavy with 18's, huge box, amp, etc... im not really looking to race it anyway
the only downside i see is that you loose a bit of speed.. 1/4 mile times are about a second longer
but big deal, im a lazy ***.. and this makes my life easier... so i dunno
if i were to get a sporty car in the future, id probably go with a sequential manual if i had the opportunity

Rep Power: 0 Auto here. I thought I would benefit from it since I'm in traffic going to work and going home... I guess I do, but it's no fun. I so wish I had gotten a manual! (But, there's always the K20 swap ) My next car will DEFINITELY be a manual.

Rep Power: 0 <-----manual lover... you can't do fun things in an auto like
1. red-lining (well maybe if you put it in 2 then d3....etc.)
2. rev matching
3. double clutching
4. heel-toe downshifting
haha, i just noticed i listed them in order of difficulty (4 being the hardest)
i can do 1 and 2 with no problem but 3 i need to work on my shifting speed (i think a short shifter would help) and 4 the car still jerks a bit... i need to get it perfect before i actually use it to enter corners....
i've had my car since june 01 and i love stick and haven't gotten tired of it! sometimes its a pain during traffic but i don't mind...

Rep Power: 0 I have an auto in my civic lx..I like it better than I thought I would. Its a little slow on take off but cruiseing down the interstate at 85 mph,I can't tell a whole lot of difference.Plus I live in the mountains of western NC,and you have to shift so much that its gets to be a pain in the *** some of the time.

manuals aint fun where im from
reasons:
there are no long straight roads (interstates and highways are always traffic-y), everybody drives like sh*t and extremely slow, waaaaaaay too many grannys out there, stop-go-stop-go
besides, imo i figure if i get manual it will be on a car with more than 127hplease:
unless for some reason i decide to swap a k20a in my lx sedan lol
also, my dad had a manual '70-sumthn MG MGB and has been driving automatics ever since

Rep Power: 294 I was never about performance to begin with. I got a car to make it look good, auto is just the most convenient for me. it comes most in handy when i'm eating in the car or using my cellphone.

Rep Power: 286 Manual tranny owner here.. I'll never go back to an automatic as long as I can work a clutch. I see some peeps mention that they dont like driving a stick in traffic, but it doesnt bother me. Its actually alot of fun.

Rep Power: 0 hey, vtec actually makes tuning a turbo REALLY difficult.. its easier for you to improve performance than it is for us EX owners
EDIT: holy crap.. spent too much time looking at vtec written as vtech.. and i slipped up!!

thats cause im a driver... i love the feel of the road, and i lvoe the be in total control of my vehicle...
autos have their perks though, as long as there isnt some sort of rev limiter or fuel cutoff, its easier to accelerate with minimal slipage in an auto...
but ild rather be able to downshift and save my brakes, or leave it in a lower gear to push it to a higher rpm when i know im about to need it...
its all in what you need...

Rep Power: 0 I've got an auto tranny...
I was originally going to get a manual, but my mother insisted I buy an auto for my safety. You know moms. In case of emergency, I want anyone to be able to drive my car. There are too many people (especially my friends) that don't know how to drive stick. I wouldn't want to be stuck somewhere because my car is stick and I couldn't drive it. Something to think about. Safety First!
Cheers,
ChiZX
