I just like having my hand on the shifter, I'm in complete control of the car and it's not doing anything I don't want it to do. With an auto, I have a hand and a foot that then have nothing to do so I get bored. Dropping gears from 5th to 3rd can in no way be compared to flooring it in an auto. Plus since we have the extra gear, the car doesn't max out until the hp/wind resistance ratio becomes to much of a burden. I've seen civics that were maxed out at the top of the tach doing only 119, I've reached 130 and still had room on the tach. Well, considering that I do know how to drive and I do it quite well. Ive drove manual plenty of times, never crashed. Yea i might be only 14 but I know how to drive, maybe under certain conditions ill take it easy but otherwise im driving how I want, not endangering people but having fun at least. Dont tell me to learn how to drive, ever.

Growl! Feisty at 14 eh? "Never crashed" doesn't mean you didn't make a mistake, it just means you made one when no one is around or other people were able to avoid you. Lots of people "know" how to drive; why do you think so many are on the road? Also why would you care what transmission others want? Not your car.
Not flaming here. Just stating some points you might want to consider.

As for me, for normal driving, manual is the way to go if there's no traffic. If there's traffic, I curse my clutch pedal.

Wow. No need for you to be cocky. Just because you have been driving here and there in a parking lot for a few months does not mean you know how to drive. And if you are out on the road driving by yourself, you shouldn't been. You need to get your license and get some driving experience under you belt for a few years before you can make comments like that. This isn't F&F. Its the real world. I seen a lot of dumbass people who think they know how to drive and find out the hard way that they do not. So unless you have been involved in racing at the track since you were little, do not tell us a fourteen year old kid knows how to drive, ever. So grow up.

On a reality note:

I don't know if everyone heard the story, but an old man who "knew how to drive" and "never crashed", plowed into a street market in Santa Monica, CA, killing 8 people a few months ago...

I don't mean to be uppity, but kid, don't be a snot nose.
We should all give driving a little more respect. Remember, we're throwing a few THOUSAND pound down the street REALLY fast. What's stopping us? Four little pieces of rubber called tires, a little aluminum and glass and... well, just about nothing.

I'd hate to see you and all your "mad skills" when the speedometer goes up. Wonder how many people you'd take with you...

I like manual better.. because my 1988 Accord's manual tranny is so ghetto, it's very easy to drive. It's not picky like 7th gens. It's catch point is almost anywhere. lol.

I have auto and it really sux. Its just 2 slow and boring for me. And an auto can get to 6700, when you floor it in d3, and the engine also gets pretty loud.

All in all, it's just more fun to drive a manual than an auto.

It's not just about performance. If I got a stinkin Kia Rio, I would get it in manual, just because being in complete control makes the drive that much more enjoyable.

Now when there's traffic on a steep hill, I want nothing more than to drop it in "D" and not worry about it. But whatev, unless I get a truck, all my cars will be manual.

Well, I think the bottom line is like this:

Manual- more control. You are one with your car... which means you are in complete control (and can't kick back and slouch and chill).

Automatic- less control => easier to drive =>lazy. But it's good to be lazy sometimes.

Now what sucks is that if you have a manual, and you are tired, hurt, on a hill, or stuck in traffic, you'll wish you had an automatic.
If you have an auto, your left foot and right hand will be bored while you chauffeur yourself around, and wish for a manual. You can't switch back and forth, which really sucks. Maybe we should start a car trading program switching automatic and manual cars around? Sound cool? Maybe not...

Anyway, my 2 cents...
