Getting an Mp3 Player...

I ordered it yesterday. I ordered all of the installation accessories today. Hopefully it'll get here sooner than later. In the meantime I'll set up my car for the installation. I'll finish off the insulation and I'll tear off the front dash to cheak out what's up and how to install the new radio. Want to know which unit I'm getting? After careful deliberation and much thought I decided to get the JVC KD-SH707 Linky! I paid $235 shipped and I took into consideration functionality (especially with mp3 CD's) and cost. The Pioneer DEH-7400MP was my 2nd choice. Linky! The Pioneer had a nicer display, XM compatibility, built-in crossovers, and a higher price. None of which I needed. What do you think?

Excellent choice! I was going to go with the KD-SH99 prior to what I got now...I decided on getting a regular CD deck since the prices dropped and Best Buy was offering free installation...I got the Pioneer DEH-P6300 for only 200.00 with all the screen entertainment and stuff

But that one you got it is awesome! You installing yourself? It was a pain in the neck to do it on my car so I opted for the free install...now if I could only figure out how to put in the rear speakers...

too expensive... but in the end, well worth the money saved from developing pix and buying cds...
You installing yourself?
Yes. It shouldn't be too bad. I'll make a DIY as I go along as well. I bought the radio harness, 4 speaker harnesses, and a dash kit. All I need to do is take out the old radio/tape deck. Unplug the harnesses. Plug in the new harness. Look at the color coded wires and plice them together with the harness that comes with the JVC unit (they should be the same color codes). Then plug in the speaker harnesses for a perfect fit without damaging the stock wiring harness. Put the JVC unit into the dash kit and put the whole dash kit in. Easu enough I hope.

Yeah, mine were a pain to get in as well. I basically had to dismantle the whole rear of the car to get those puppies in. I think the 6th gens are a little easier.

sivikchik: I think I've seen that commercial. Very k3wl little thing. I want a wearable computer with a digicam either built in or a port for one so that I can upload images quickly. That and a built in cellular.

Hey Grey,

I got myself a Kenwood Z828 MP3 Player for mine. I installed it too so let me know when you do it and I may be able to help. It was a pretty easy install if you are prepared for it... I love having 150 songs on one CD.... Much easier than a 15 song CD... Looks like it will be a nice player though....

I'm pretty sure that I won't have too many problems. Although, taking out the center console might be a pain in the ass. I have everything I need too. I have a soldering iron, solder, some heat shrink tubing, the radio harness, and even speaker harnesses. If you'de like to come over for the install to just watch or help me out here and there then that would be cool. Let me know. I should get everything in like a week.

Oh yeah? K3wl. We should do that. I guess it would be helpful for some that didn't have a new deck installed yet. I could help you with those rear speakers of yours too. I'll let you guys know in this thread and in a PM when that happens. What if I had everything ready on the 7th? Would this Friday work for you guys? If not, then I guess it's the weekend.

Friday might be okay if I can actually get insured again Saturday is a little tight - I might be helping Krepoort install his fog lights - not sure how it'll work since we've got a couple grad parties to go to that weekend...we could of course just make it one big install get-together and just work on everything...what do you think?

Yeah, I'm up for that. One big install fest. Bring everything and start installing! I like it. I have a ton of tools at my house (which Blk4blk2k1 can confirm). We could do it at my house. Or if someone else has a ton of tools then we could do it at their place? Of course, Saturday is no good for me and Blk4blk2k1 since we're going to that meet in NJ.

I'm down with checking out/helping the install if you wanna do it Friday night. I get off work at 6 though. Rather not do my fogs on Friday cause I wanna do it in the day light and its gonna take a few hours with all the cutting and adjusting and such. Saturday definitely a no go for me. Parties starting at 1pm. If you guys wanna wait till Sun, lemme know, else I'm gonna try to fog it up Sat morning.

Grey and all - I'd be up for Sunday too - I've got my multi ratchet set and a couple odds and ends...if anyone needs detailing stuff, I've got all the Meguires things to shake a stick at, including Mother's back to black, rain-x, Gold Class, and Cleaning Wax...
