I live in CT and they supposibly require you to have an amber bulb as a turn signal which you can now get ones that look clear but when activated produce that amber color. So far I know no one who has had a problem yet with this issue even after leaving their stock turn signal in after clearing their headlights. I think you'd be safe with most colors, just not one that really stand out or one that cops could spot far away, ie red, blue.
I also live in CT.. i have Hyper Whites on my corners.. most cops drive by and say " you should change those" but never got pulled over for them.. some cops even say they look great..
yeah, you have to have an amber bulb - but I think you also need a reflector on the side - something about telling one end of the car from the other (amber in front, red in back)...The only reason why I would try and keep it legal is because if the cop pulls you over and he wants to write you up for more, that's just another thing he can use...
I live in Nashua, NH and have cleared headlights. I had the stock ones in for over a year and no problems with the law. When regsitering you car, the inspection laws say you must have an amber bulb. I got mine inspected at my Honda dealer and they passed it with the PIAA Etreme White bulbs, so I think as long as it is colored, you should be fine.
