I've got a D5100 with the kit lens and a Tamron 70-300 f/4-5.6. Not much, but it's something for a poor person like me(and gets the job done).

How you like the 5100? I had a friend asking about it, but being a Canon person, myself, I couldn't really speak much of it.

I love it, I chose it over the t2i because everyone seemed the say the D5100 was better for video. I was looking to use it for both video and photos, so I chose it. But, I often hear people say take the t2i if you aren't too worried about video.

I don't have any complaints about it. I personally like the way Nikons feel, better than the way Canons feel. That was another factor in choosing Nikon over Canon.

The third factor, which kind of falls in line with the first, is the flip out screen on the Nikon. It's awesome for helping stabilize the camera when I'm recording, since I don't have a craddle or anything.
