Alright, this may not be a picture I took, but it's a picture I felt obligated to share. My buddy posted it on his FB wall.

I havent even downloaded it yet. I'm on my netbook mostly these days. I hooked my desktop up to my 46 inch samsung tv as a monitor n gave my 22 inch to my girlfriend. Only problem, I sit to close to the damn thing since its so huge, I had to order a wireless keyboard and mouse. Just waiting for it to show up at bestbuy, I did the ship to store deal. Then I'll load PS and load the program for HDR's and blow you guys out the water, lol, hopefully.

You guys ever heard of the Eye-Fi SD cards?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...7931910_snp_dp
Kind of amazing, just found out about them now :P
Helps with camera like mine that has a SD card on the bottom instead of the side

Ok, so maybe the vantage point I told you about earlier wasn't that great, but it was all I was willing to search for without having to go on the strip.. Which, on a Saturday night, you might as well be walking. In any case

Was sitting in my room, watching "The Other Guys" with my blinds open, then saw the amazing color in the sky. Paused the movie and headed out to take some pics.
A few shots and playing with photomatix for a while resulted with this

So I played around with photomatix. I found 4.0 to be more confusing then 3.0, so I deleted and installed the earlier version. Heres some results I got from a few pics I took yesterday while waiting for some friends to show up for happy hour. This is all handheld on Canon t2i with kit IS lens:

See description: 1= 1st time I put it through the program's tone mapping, and then 2= taking the first result and running it though tone mapping a second time.
All comments welcome!!

HAHA, WHOOPS... Whats funny is HDR is a bottom-bottom shelf brand of liquor here in Oregon- it stands for Hood River Distilleries. I had a 5th of vodka on the brain to bring to a buddies bbq tonight. Anyways
Which ones look better- the 1's or the 2's?? I didnt really like the "Jake's" sign- the effect clearly wasnt for that kind of picture.

Honestly, I don't like painterly effects, and HDR 4.0+ is harder for you?
I think its so much easier than the 3.X
Anyways...
I really like the first one, but your angle could be improved, maybe move camera closer to the ground and point up more, get all of the building

I literally just pulled out the t2i in the frigid air and snapped a few from the block the bar was on- I wasn't planning anything elaborate, just some test pics.
What is "painterly" to you- the second ones (the ones with "2" in the desc)? I know a lot of people go overkill on HDR's and make it so obvious. I really like the first one of the fish grotto, and the second one of "Jakes" (the bar, not the sign). I hated the sign one- HDR didnt add anything cool to the original image since there wasnt much shadows/dark tones.
I shot a few more today when I was downtown and at the airport... didnt plan anything and actually got yelled at my airport security for taking a picture- and SOAB, there was a car driving that I didnt notice and it ghosted pretty hard.

i like it. it's slow though. shoots good in high light but lags in low light and blures. this one i shot through the display case and zoomed in. that's why you can see the reflection of four hanging lights, that apear in the midle of the cupcakes. kinda look like fantasyesk floating orbs.

Re: new photography thread
i was playing with the d90 at best bestbuy, that thing is wicked fast. perfectly focused shots almost as fast as you can move your finger, i want one soooo bad! but really don't need it, my buddy has one but he's a photo major.

Yea, the D90 is up there, but Nikon glass is reaaaaaally nice.. and they use a slightly larger sensor compared to it's Canon "counterpart"
On the flip side, Canon cameras are more user friendly and you can't really see the image quality differences unless you're zoomed way the eff in.

If you want better pictures in low light, get the ISO as low as you can and use a tripod. I dont use anything higher than 1600 once I learned how to actually use my dslr (the t2i)... although I have a few pro photographers that dont like to use anything higher than 400 because noise pisses them off.

Posted 4 more hdr's...
I would have posted more to my set but there is unbelievable amount of noise on the others, even with a super low ISO... gotta figure out what's the deal with that.
