My biggest mistake on these headlights was not finishing them.
I still needed to fix the rotational alignment and put a shroud over the projectors, but damnit they were bright. And no burnt bowls! Rare for a ZKW projector.
The easiest retrofit, by far, was the Valeo H7 (or D2S, they're both the same in terms of difficulty) into TYC headlights:

its pretty much a bolt on projector. should work for your civic too. if you can take the headlight off and apart, and remove the glare shield, you should be able to install these. they even come with an h4 adapter plate for the proper rotational aim. you cant screw it up. you can see other ppls installs on hidplanet.com
