1989 Civic Intermittent Starting Issues.

My son just bought a 1989 Honda Civic 4 dr sedan. It starts most of the time, but other times it will just turn over. If you pour some gas into the throttle body, it will fire right up till it uses up that gas, then die. Let it sit a bit and it will fire right up. Doesn't seem to matter, cold, hot, previously running or start of day. It's hit and miss. I changed the fuel pump, still the same. What else should I be checking? Intermittent fuel relay? ECU?

Spark plugs look ok? Battery is good? How about those fuel injectors? Are they ticking like they should?
