A/C intermittent
My 95 civic will blow cold air for a few minutes then blows warm ( ambient temperature ). A couple of shops have said it's the compressor, a couple have said its a short somewhere. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

When it quits cooling:
See if the compressor clutch is no longer engaged and spinning
See if it has power to the clutch coil
See if the coil has gone open circuit or if it still has proper resistance value
If the above are all ok then:
Apply power to the coil and see if the clutch engages.....If no then push it and see if it then clicks into engaged position
See if the plate and pulley have worn so much that the gap is far too large
See if the compressor clutch is no longer engaged and spinning
See if it has power to the clutch coil
