So youve locked your keys in the trunk, and your trunk latch does not work. Now what?

So you've locked your keys in your trunk, and you can get into your car, but your interior trunk latch does not work. From everything I have read tonight there is no solution besides going to the dealer.

Determined not to spend any more money than I have to I decided to find a solution. After many attempts, I figured it out.

Tools required:
Small flat head screwdriver, slightly larger flat head screwdriver.

Step 1: Locate this marvelous little device, it should be on your rear deck.

Step 2: Remove its bezel by prying it off with the small flat head screwdriver.

Step 3: Once the bezel is removed, place the head of your smaller screwdriver in the gap indicated by the blue arrow, and push the metal wire out of the white clip.

Step 4: Now that the wire has been removed from the clip, notice how the end of the wire makes a small hook. Place the head of the large screwdriver in the hook and push/pry it in the direction of the blue arrow in the picture below. This should unlatch your rear seat, gaining you access to the trunk.

Step 5: Crawl inside your trunk and get your keys out.

Alternatively, you may be able to do steps 1 and 2 and then remove the two phillips screws and then twist the lock cylinder, however I have not tried this method. I hope this will help people in the future, I made this account with the sole intention of making this post.

Should make a spare key now that you have the key back

If someone could place this in the correct section for me that would be great. This was actually my little brothers car, he now has plans to get spare keys made.
