I have a 1996 Honda Civic EX with a 1.6 liter 16 valve SOHC Non VTEC and the motor blew up. I have found tow motors i could put in. One is a 1.6 Liter 16 valve SOHC non VTEC for $500 and the other is a 1.6 Liter 16 valve SOHC VTEC for $1150. WHich is the better deal and if i get the VTEC will i need a new wiring harness or new transmission? Any help would be great.

1150 for a single cam is a lot! I picked up my d16y8 for 300 bucks with 120 000 kms
even 500 is a lot.
if you do vtec you will need to wire up a knock sensor and run you Vtec wires, other then that its a matter of getting a vtec computer and pinning it properly, or getting a vtec harness with the vtec computer and then it plug and play, just be sure you know that 96-98 is OBD2A and 99-00 is OBD2B little differences
