Rep Power: 0 Request from American Honda,
Good afternoon,
My name is John Carey and I am a Procurement Specialist for American Honda. For model years 1999/2000 Civics one of the standard model radios is PN 39100-S01-A21 - essentially an AM/FM radio. The supplier of this radio, Alpine, is unable to continue to supply this unit due to the unavailability of component parts. There is a newer unit that includes a cassette deck. AHM and Alpine are looking for a vehicle to do two tests on:
First, we need to confirm that the new model fits into dash properly. The face plate is not an issue, but we do have concerns about the depth of the unit.
Secondly, the newer unit has a pin out that is not used on the older model. From the drawings, this should not be an issue. However, we want to confirm that the newer unit will not experience 'noise' when installed in older vehicle.
Anyone in central Ohio willing to be a guinea pig? The whole exercise should take less than half an hour - and there will be no damage to vehicle.
Please email me at john_carey@ahm.honda.com if you are interested.
Thanks,
John
