Rep Power: 0 Oil residue on bottom of oil pans
I have looked at half a dozen Honda Civic's and they all seem to have an oil residue on the bottom of the oil pan. Is this common for Civics in the 1998 to 2001 range? Where is the oil coming from? Thanks for the help.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Sloppy oil changes?
They can have a lot of oil run down the back of the block when the filter is removed.
The 96-2000 has a bracket that goes from under the oil filter, over to the trans, oil runs all over that area and can end up looking like a trans leak too.
If it is not caused by oil changes, then it's a leak.
Rubber seals harden and leak after lots of heat cycles, time and miles.
