Rep Power: 0 99 civic ex cutting out?
I have a 99 civic ex, it has been well maintained and trouble free for the last 8 years, it has 235k miles and it just started with the first problem, it is cutting out around 2500-3000 rpms under heavy acceleration, at first i thought it was the clutch, but it's not doing it constantly so i'm ruling that out for now, which leads me to believe it might be electrical? I have replaced plugs and plug wires, but i have not check the coil. It seems to idle fine, and once at a cruising speed it does just fine, i can even drop a gear and hammer it and it pulls. It's just when taking off from a stop. So i'm asking for opinions and possibly things i could check or replace to make this issue go away. The car is stock with no performance mods at all.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

That does not mean it won't crap out tomorrow, but it is not the problem right now.
I'd guess it's an ignition problem. Cap and rotor?
Does the tach jump upward when it cuts out? Are the connectors tight on the igniter?
