Rep Power: 0 Severe engine bogging/stuttering during acceleration.
Hey everyone,
My problem is I have a 97 Civic LX, stock for now, and about a 2 weeks ago it suddenly developed this problem. Whenever accelerating, nearly exactly at 3000 rpm it begins stuttering heavily with gaps of total loss of power. CEL was on so I had the codes pulled, after replacing spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, but not after resetting the computer. It showed 11 codes, mostly cylinders misfiring and also MAP and A/F Sensor 1 failure (or circuit failure). I reset the computer and now the CEL light is gone, but the problem is still there.
I have been driving it for 3 days since and while resetting the computer did make the problem a little better, it's still stuttering and the CEL has not yet come back on.
my questions are as follows:
1. Does that fact that resetting the computer help (a little) mean anything?
2. Does the fact that so far the CEL light has not come back on mean anything? (it worries me) If it hasn't does that mean the O2 sensor is failing (or at least bad enough to cause such acceleration roughness)?
3. Lastly, should I start investigating fuel supply issues? I am a bit of a noob about this stuff, but all my research and searching hasn't really given me any strong positive leads on this issue..
Thanks for any help guys!
