Putting Transmission Back Together Need Help

I replaced the input shaft bearing and seal in my 98 civic transmission and started putting it back together. I have all the gear shafts in and diff. I aligned the interlock and put the bolt back in and now I cannot fit the reverse lever back into its place. the one **** on the bottom of the shift fork is blocking it from seating properly. It looks like it would go together with the reverse lever but I cannot move any of the shift forks. The gears all spin though and the interlock guide seemed to be aligned correctly. Not sure what to do.

If I remember correctly, below is the step that if done incorrectly, the gears won't shift properly. After this step (before installing the transmission housing) you can and should verify that the gears shift properly.

not sure if this is preventing you from being able to move it into position.

Re: Putting Transmission Back Together Need Help

Yeah I did that and it shifts fine now. All gears turn and I got the reverse lever into place. Everything pretty much has to be together before you put it in. You can't really piece it back together so it is a pain. The hardest part was putting the snap ring back in. Had to drop it on the top of the case onto some wood to get it to seat. Hopefully once I drive the car it will be fine.
