Rep Power: 0 mystery evap code P1457 - civic ex 2000
I have a 2000 Civic EX automatic with about 230K (runs like a clock, btw) that I maintain immaculately.
I recently got a CEL with code P1457 (the only code), and see that this is an emission control system leak and could be caused by 1. loose fuel cap 2. vapor canister saturated 3. failed vent or purge solenoid.
The thing that always triggers the CEL is filling up my gas tank (I don't overfill and always click at least 3 turns when tightening cap). Once the CEL is on, it stays on regardless of tank level until I turn it off. However once it is turned off it stays off, of course until I fill up my tank again.
I replaced the gas cap with Honda dealer OEM cap and did not solve problem.
Also, I don't have a hose going from the out port of my vapor canister. I've never had one though, even before the code. If I'm supposed to have a hose there, I have no idea where it goes to.
Anyone have any ideas before I spend money at a shop or on equipment?
Thanks in advance for any help.
