2 stupid questions for Alpine CDA-9815 install !!!!!
ok, finally got the HU i wanted...
am going to install it today after werk...
but was looking thru the manual and i have 2 stupid install questions...
1- i have the factory speakers (for now) and a bandpass sub box in the trunk, do i set the HU to 2-way mode or 3-way mode????
this is what the manual says: 2-way mode purs the highs in the front and rear and the lows in the sub, and 3-way mode puts the highs in the front, the mids in the rear, and the lows in the sub, but if you put it on 3-way mode you cant use the fader???
(reason i ask is cuz its a switch on the HU itself and i dont want to have to pull it out to change it lol)
2- i have my remote to the amp wired from the battery (fused ofcourse) and then to a switch by the emergency brake, then to the amp remote terminal. should i connect the remote lead to the radio to the switch, directly to the amp or just leave it the way it is so i can turn the amp on and off as i please?
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ALL YOUIR HELP, YOU GUYS HAVE SAVED ME SOOOOO MANY TIMES!!!!!!!!!

if i put it to 2 way wont it then only be playing highs throughout the car when the box is off? the reason i have the switch is because the box makes ridiculous bass and i dont always need/want the bass thumping my brain in my skull... so when i want to just listen to the music with the factory speakers i just hit the switch and the amp turns off...
what if i didnt have a sub? what would i connect it to then? i think thats my real question, cuz the amp is only on half the time... so i'd need to be able to have the HU play high mid and lows for when the amp is off...

There is no need for that, thats what the subwoofer level control is for. and all the '2 way or 3way' thing is a built in crossover, if you dont want to use it, im sure there a way you can run your speakers full range. I would set it to 2way on the radio, then im sure there are ways to set turn the xovers on and off in the radio.
