help on terms

Hey,
can anyone help explain to me what all these terms mean? (or a link to some kind of site that has all the definitions for each thing)
1. Volume Acoustic Suspension
2. Total Q (Qts)
3. Electrical Q (Qes)
4. Mechanical Q (Qms)
5. Xmax
6. F3
7. Qtc
Any type of help would be cool. I know i'm prolly asking a lot, but just a link to a website would be nice.
thx in advance

i dont have much time right now to explain, i'll finish later when i get to my books and such, but off the top of my head, Volume Acoustic Suspension, more commonly known as Vas, is a way to measure the stiffness of the suspension of a driver when you push it in. what it does, is it takes the amount of pressure it takes to push it in, and it translates it into a body of air which has the same pressure to push in. which is why its measured in liters of cubic feet as opposed to kPa or mm's of Hg or atm's or torr's or any other measure of pressure. im probably slightly off, but oh well

xmax is the distance from rest that a cone travels. xmax, or maximum excursion. how far the cone excurts.

only other thing i can tell you off the top of my head is that Qts is derived from Qes and Qms, so its not its own unit.

F3 i believe may be a box tuning of the ripple, and qtc i believe is alignment. ill explain later...

the reason why i posted this question was because im simply trying to learn as much about I.C.E. as necessary to be able to build a nice sounding system. As I was browsing through the Xtant website, i found a couple of specs on it, and i didn't know what they meant so i came here to ask what those terms meant.
Also, if you know of any good books, that can explain a lot of ICE stuff, please tell me the title or something.

you want a cool book? get the loudspeaker design cookbook.

i promised i'd be back to answer everything, so here it is:

Vas: The volume of air having the same (acoustic) compliance as the suspension of the woofer.

Qts: The total (sum of electrical + mechanical) "Q" of a woofer.

Qes: The electrical "Q" of the woofer.

Qms: The mechanical "Q: of the woofer.

Fs: The free air resonance of a woofer.

Xmax: The ELECTRICAL LIMIT of the one-way movement of the woofer. This represents how far ELECTRICITY can move the woofer, NOT how far your hand can move it!!

SPL: The amount of sound pressure (measured in decibels) that the woofer will produce given ONE watt of power measured a distance of ONE meter.

http://www.mobileaudio.com/rac-faq/rac-faq_4.html is my personal favorite basics site.

but to be honest, these terms really dont mean anything as far as building a nice system is concerned, and there are other definite important concepts to get down before you should care to figure out how each of these paramaters can affect performance!
